The Fashion Awards are tonight and we honestly couldn’t be more excited for the most glamorous night in the fashion calendar. You thought the Met Ball was great? The BFAs, now in its 32nd year are the alternative, edgier, British version. Here are the 5 reasons why we are so pumped…
InStyle’s Exclusive Red Carpet Coverage
Our resident vlogger, Joshington Hosts AKA Josh Newis-Smith, will be on the red carpet in his finest velvet suit to bring you the interviews with the A-list. From Victoria Beckham to British fashion’s perennial icon, Alexa Chung, attending, we will be spoilt for choice. Shame it’s literally freezing and he will be wearing Canada Goose rather than Burberry… but hey, we suffer for our art here!
Bella Vs. Gigi
The two sisters and best friends are going head to head in the International Model category. The award is given to a female or male model who has ‘contributed the most to the international fashion scene in the past year and has demonstrated influence beyond the catwalk.’ It’s safe to say they both fit the bill but they will also have to fight off tough competition from Kendall Jenner. Our money is on Bella following her breakthrough year, I mean, becoming the face of Dior beauty isn’t going to harm your chances is it!
The British Fashion Awards Goes International
Not only do the trophies travel a casual 800 miles from the Swarovski headquarters in Wattens, Austria, to the Royal Albert Hall, with the introduction of five new international awards, the global fashion industry will also be putting the miles in too. After the nominees were announced in LA, and with the event getting bigger and better each year, the awards ceremony has ditched the ‘British’ at the front of its name due to the international interest in the event so 2016 is set to be the biggest one EVER!
A Textbook Example Of Red Carpet Dressing
You thought the Oscars gave good red carpet? This is the place where fashion's brightest icons do their thing and with Lady Gaga in town literally anything could happen. Expect a many a leg split and plenty of party dress envy.
Ralph Lauren Is The Man Of The Moment
Ralph Lauren will be honoured with the highest accolade of the night with the Outstanding Achievement In Fashion award for his ‘invaluable contribution to the fashion industry.’ Previous winners include Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour so he’s in great company.
