Blame Alexa if you like, but the parka is now a timeless classic that's always ripe for re-invention. But what’s in store right now? Here's our ultimate edit of the parkas coats that will take you from park to party.
I love my parka jacket. It's Woolrich, mid-length with just the right amount of puff. It looks just as chic with my skinny jeans and heels as it does with wellies. Even though I've got at least three other winter coats I find myself wearing the parka at least four times a week.
Finding the right one, is a bit like finding a boyfriend: get it right and you'll love it for as long it lasts.
It’s not classic in a chic, French girl way, but it's classic in that cool Kate/Alexa//Sienna way, that means I'll sling it on at the weekend and feel just that little bit more fashion.
It’s also super-practical - and, like every good boyfriend, this is seriously handy. Because I wear my parka coat so often, I've bought a few over the years, and there's an update I'm lusting after each season.
So, what’s new now? Things have really smartened up this season; the catwalk looks at Joseph, Marni and Stella were way more minimal. So leave those those flashy fabrics and fussy fastenings alone and look for a much more stripped back parka.

Large pockets are super cool right now and, when it comes to fabrics, look out for quality cottons in navy, burnt orange, cream and, of course, khaki.
Go for an oversized silhouette if you fancy something more fashiony; MM6 has done a great A-line cut style that will really dress up your day-to-day denim look in a feminine way.
With snow predicted for the weekend, the thicker padded styles are about to be your best friend. Canada Goose are the masters of the Arctic parka, which will quite literally be like walking round in your duvet - an investment we can’t fault.

But if you’re not quite ready to shell out £600, then Mango has the perfect solution. A shearling-lined parka coat for that extra cosy layer, which can be removed come spring when things get a little warmer. We live in hope!
Our top pick from the edit below? We’re obsessed with Isabel Marant’s cream quilted parka that’s finished with a leather waist belt. Perfect to wear with your jeans and trainers while also suitability smart enough to wear with your heels for a cooler weekend look.
We have trawled the rails to ensure there’s something for everyone, from the high street heros you can’t turn down, to the investment winter staples you’ll be cherishing for years. Pay day, be ready.
