Whether you’re a die-hard fashion fan or not, we can all agree that this Fashion Week show has set itself apart from the rest.
As Kanye West served up his latest Yeezy offering and Kendall Jenner got her walk on for Michael Kors, another catwalk was taking social media by storm, thanks to its exemplary case of body diversity.
Following in the footsteps of Heidi Klum, Elle MacPherson and all the other models-turned-lingerie designers that have come before her is Ashley Graham, who debuted her own underwear collection at New York Fashion Week yesterday. But what sets her apart from the rest, is the fact that she’s a size 16.
Teaming up with Canadian fashion brand Addition Elite, the 27-year-old model showcased her sexy lingerie designs - created especially for the label - alongside a host of fuller-figured models, each of whom looked AMAZING in an array of French knickers, camisoles, silk wraps and the most stunning DD+ bras we’ve ever seen (as someone who has spent hours trying to find pretty bras in bigger sizes, this is no small feat).
Encouraging the show’s audience to go wild on social media with the hashtag #IAmSizeSexy, it was soon a global trend on all platforms.
While it goes without saying that we LOVE fashion – seriously, we can’t get enough – it’s so refreshing to see women of all shapes and beautiful sizes take to the catwalk boards. If this doesn’t inspire us to change the way we look at body image, nothing will.
Taking to her Instagram account after the show, Ashley couldn’t contain her excitement: ‘What an amazing experience! All the girls looked amazing!’ And we totally agree…
