From Australia to Wonderland, check out Mia's style evolution...

Mia Wasikowska is a star on the rise... in fact, she's been bubbling under the A-list surface for quite some time.

Famous for playing ethereal beauties, Mia is probably most recognisable playing the fiesty and inqusitive Alice in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland franchise, however, she has plenty of other acting accolades under her belt - some of which you may already be familiar with.

Not only has she worked with some of the most lauded directors on the planet (Chan-park Wook, David Cronenberg), but she's also starred opposite an impressive roll call of leading men including Tom Hardy (Lawless), Robert Pattinson (Map to the Stars) and Michael Fassbender (Jane Eyre).

And despite acting alongside such powerful male leads, Mia's on-screen presence is enough to overcome even the surliest of Tom Hardy scowls, and she continues to hold her own as one of the most interesting and stylish actresses working today.

Growing up in Canberra Australia, Mia initially trained as a ballerina with the hopes of eventually becoming a professional dancer. At aged 14 — after years of training over 35 hours per week — she became disenchanted with the industry, and instead decided to pursue a career in acting.

After landing roles in her native Australia during her teens, Mia made her break in America playing a suicidal gymnast in HBO drama In Treatment. The rest as they say, is history.

Mia's penchant for designers such as Miu Miu and McQueen have made her something of a red carpet game-changer, and her ability to look gorgeous whatever her hair length gives her an A-list quirkiness that's often so rare amongst the Hollywood elite.

Plus, she's dating Jesse Eisenberg. And that's all kinds of cool.

No doubt we'll be seeing a LOT more of this lady, and we would lay odds on the fact she'll be clutching a gold statuette sometime in the forseeable future...

Until then, here are some of our favourite Mia moments.
