The Met Gala is one of the most exciting nights in the fashion calendar...
Which A-lister will be paired up with which designer? What will they wear? Who will have the most memorable look of the night - the one we'll talk about for years to come? Will Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively give us ALL the PDAs?! (Probably...)
And with the hype building for 2016's ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology' Costume Institute Gala, we thought we'd take a look back at some of the best looks since the annual event began...
2015: China: Through The Looking Glass
2014: Charles James: Beyond Fashion
2013: Punk: Chaos to Couture
2012: Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations
2011: Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
2010: American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity
... Back to 1946.
So what show-stopping moments will this year's Met Ball bring?
2016's futuristic, technological theme will focus on man vs. machine made clothing. 'Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made,' Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute, explained when the theme was announced last year.
'But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other.'
We're hoping for lots of metallic fabric and robot-style shapes. Beyoncé dressed as a couture Barbarella? Taylor Swift as a red-carpet astronaut?! Imagine...
From Carey Mulligan's stunning custom-made sequin Prada dress in 2012, right back to Karolina Kurkova's memorable Viktor & Rolf 'I love you' gown, see all the Met Ball red carpet hits in their glory.
And don't forget, we'll be on-hand to bring you all the very best moments from this year's Met Gala too.
It's time to get glamorous!
