Karl Lagerfeld's new Chanel short with Kristen Stewart as Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel is here.
It was seriously drip-teased, with a first glimpse of her period garms, a make-up montage and sassy long lense shot showcasing K-Stew's famous RBF, then a 40 second clip shows her dancing, arguing in a French accent and generally looking pretty impressive.
In the film, Karl goes behind the scenes during the making of a biopic on the iconic Chanel founder, which, as well as Kristen, stars Géraldine Chaplin as an older Gabrielle, Jamie Bochert, Amanda Harlech, Jérémie Elkaïm, François Marthouret, Jake Davies, Baptiste Giabiconi and Laura Brown.
It debuted at Chanel's Metiers d'Arts show in Rome and we're planning to watch it again and again.
When Hannah Met Kristen
Our fashion features editor Hannah Rochell chatted to her about her last Chanel championing moment, the resort show in Seoul, where she was whisked off to with Tilda Swinton and Gisele Bundchen.
Here’s what she spilled to her…
‘I brought home a pair of Chanel sneakers :) and some hot sauce. Reeeeally hot’
‘When we walked around Korea a bit, I wanted to check out the street style and what the kids were into and what they were wearing. It was funny – there was a preppy-ness, buttoned up and clean, but intentioned and cool’
‘One funny and coveted memory of mine is coming back froma pretty run with my whole team. We ventured into tthis beautiful park wearing Chanel running shoes and crew necks like it was the most natural thing in the world.’
‘The show was like walking into a film or a board game of your childhood, mixed in with a sort of Studio 54, Soeul/Korea vibe. It was sweet, but fun, and with a snarl. I loved it’
‘I loved watching Isabelle Huppert and Tilda Swinton tearing up a dance floor in a trippy Soeul drag bad after the show. I’m so envious of people who can dance. I didn’t. I was like, ‘Get your ass up. Dance.’ But I could only stand and watch. And marvel.’
What a gal.
