Sarah Jessica Parker in Mary Katrantzou Dress

Sarah Jessica Parker never gets it wrong, does she? After starring as the sartorially blessed Carrie Bradshaw in the TV series that defined a generation - that's Sex And The City, in case you've been living under a rock for the last 16 years - it's easy to see that some of that impeccable fashion sense has rubbed off on this style icon.

Guaranteed to give any ensemble an unexpected twist, SJP has recently added a series of offbeat handbags to her red carpet attire, sporting both a back pack and a bum bag with some seriously glamorous looks.

However, for her latest get-up, it wasn't Sarah's arm candy that set the fashion world a-gasp. It was her unusual and very raunchy choice of shoes that really caught our attention.

We clocked the 49-year-old outfit inspirer and actress (in that order) at the New York City Ballet's Third Annual Fall Fashion Gala rocking a beyond beautiful sky blue floor-sweeping gown from Brit-It designer, Mary Katrantzou. Featuring a stunning, embroidered centre panel that starts at the neckline and finishes at the cascading hem, this dress is nothing short of what our fashion dreams are made of.

As SJP made her way inside the venue, she gently lifted the skirt of her dress to better enable her to tackle the stairs and revealed way more than we ever bargained for...

Sporting a pair of perforated black knee-high boots from her own range, Sarah Jessica Parker instantly gave her fairytale gown a very daring spin.

We don't know about you but we would never have guessed that underneath her gown lurked a pair of boots so vampy they'd be enough to make the likes of Dita Von Teese blush...

Only SJP could take on this questionable look and win. She's an inspiration to us all, really.
