It's a dream come true for Dannii Minogue's protégé X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle. Reaching that coveted Christmas number one spot with his debut single When We Collide - a cover of the Biffy Clyro song Many Of Horror - Matt has beaten off well established musicians to get pole position in the music charts.
Speaking to press about his success, Matt said: 'I can't believe it. As if winning wasn't enough. I honestly didn't think I'd even make it on to the live shows, let alone win and now be the Christmas number one. I can't even begin to describe how if feels. It's nuts, crackers and crazy. To think that many people have supported me and bought the record is absolutely mind blowing.'
Fighting off stiff competition from Rihanna, not to mention the re-release of the original Biffy Clyro track and an array of anti-X Factor campaigns Matt's talents won through and has clearly captured the nation's heart.
Last year's winner Joe McElderry was not so fortunate as he was beaten to the finishing line by an online campaign to make Rage Against The Machine Christmas number one.
No doubt Matt will have plenty to celebrate this Christmas!
