X Factor 2009 has begun and has a glossy new format shot in front of a Britain's Got Talent-style audience who aren't afraid to make their feelings heard. And though there were plenty of not so talented participants, there are already three acts we're dying to see past the mentoring stage and into the finals.
Teacher Danyl Johnson blew both audience and judges away with the audition that Simon Cowell said was "single handedly the best first audition I have ever heard."
The handsome 27-year-old captured the hearts of the judges from the first note he sang of Beatles classic With a Little Help from my Friends. Danyl owned the arena, jumping around and perching on the edge of the stage at one point. He had Cheryl Cole beaming and reduced Dannii Minogue to tears. Danyl went on to receive a standing ovation from the audience, and though we shall (largely) remain impartial, so far he's getting our vote!
Joseph McElderry from South Shields found fans in all four judges with Dannii falling for his cute dimples and Cheryl Cole cheering on a fellow Geordie.
Bubbly 19-year-old student and mother of one Stacey Solomon from Dagenham astonished the panel as she belted out Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World showing off a silky smooth voice that wowed the audience and pleasantly surprised judges.
With a slew of fantastic auditions (after just one episode!) and the Cheryl and Dannii style battle showing no signs of letting up, X Factor 2009 is set to be a corker!
