The 28-year-old has just presented his eighth applauded collection for Balmain at Paris Fashion Week and simultaneously hit 1 million followers on Instagram.

1. One word – BALMAIN
Balmain has doubled its profits every year since Rousteing became the Creative Director in 2011. He was 25 at the time, making him one of the youngest talents to take the reigns of an established Parisian fashion house since Yves Saint Laurent for Dior. His fearless vision has revitalised Balmain into a fashion powerhouse.
2. He’s passionate
Raised in little ol’ Bordeaux, one of the most conservative cities in France, his adoptive parents wanted him to study international law - which he did for two months until he realised “Your passion can also be your work.” So he did just that, interning for Roberto Cavailli at 18 and then working his way up the ladder.
3. He’s changed the look of fashion
Inclusive of different cultures and ethnicities, he said: “My job is not just to design clothes but to also give a new vision to fashion”. For spring 2014 he cast Rihanna as the face of the brand and then a few months later got the power trio of Iman, Naomi Campbell and Rihanna to represent Balmain. He said: “I'm mixed race. I want to mix ideas, I want to mix cultures."
4. He loves strong women
He’s drawn inspiration for his form-fitting creations from a diverse crew of “strong women”, and even the Free the Nipple campaign. He said: “These women are inspiring to so many different people. Bringing them together represents the concept I’m working toward.”
5. And when he said this…
“The woman had to come back; the curved woman, and different kinds of body shapes. I don't like skinny girls. I want to represent a real woman, not just a shadow or a ghost."
