Gwyneth Paltrow's recent comments concerning her lifestyle site Goop have well and truly annoyed the Internet at large (again).
The actress has always had a hard time explaining and defending her lifestyle site, and her latest interview in which she describes herself as the 'common woman', in an attempt to clarify who Goop is for, has got Twitter up in arms.
But we think the Internet's reaction is slightly unfair. Sure, Gwynnie sometimes has a certain way with words that might make some balk, but in essence, what she's saying is true – and we agree with everything she says.
Talking to CNN Money, the 42-year-old explained: 'I'm incredibly close to the common woman, in that I'm a woman and I'm a mother.'
'We all are in a physical body with beating hearts, with compassion and love,' she continued. 'We are all seekers, we all want questions, we all want fulfillment, we want to live our best lives. We want to be healthy and happy and squeeze the most that we can out of life. I think that's all women.'
'I see myself as an actor and a mother and as an entrepreneur . . . I don't see myself as a guru at all, I think that I'm building a lifestyle business. I'm not a guru because I feel like I'm the one asking the questions, you know? I'm not purporting to know anything. I'm just asking this doctor or that nutritionist or this expert, 'Hey, what is your take on this?'
We're totally with you Gwynnie. And to prove just how like the rest of us she is, here's three times we've totally connected with Ms Paltrow:
When she cried at the Oscars
We might not have cried during an acceptance speech in front of a room full of the world's most famous people, but we definitely know what it feels like to get a bit over emosh in public. Uncontrollable open-mouthed crying is embarrassing whoever, or wherever you are: be that at the Oscars or waiting for the bus alone in the rain.
That time she had to do an emergency shave
We've all been there – you're going to a swanky do, you've got your dress ready and then you realise you've forgotten to shave all the, er, important bits. Even Gwynnie was faced with this emergency problem at the Iron Man 3 premiere, when she realised her Antonio Berardi dress had sheer sides which meant she couldn't wear underwear. So what did she do? She grabbed a Bic and headed to the loos, just like we would have done.
She still has her vices
We know that Gwynnie's famed (and often ridiculed) for her super-healthy diet and lifestyle, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have any vices at all. In fact, the one thing she does is one of the naughtiest of all: she smokes. Sure, she might only allow herself one American Spirit ciggie a week, but still, it just goes to show that we can't all be perfect. And we bet her GP's given her a ticking off about it, too.
