Yesterday must have been a memorable one for Victoria Beckham. Not only did she open the doors to her very first store to the public, but she made her first speech as UN Goodwill Ambassador. And what did we achieve yesterday? We couldn't even finish the speedy crossword.
Unfortunately, VB couldn't be in both London (where her shop is located on Dover Street) AND New York, so the designer had to forgo the opening of her shop doors so she could deliver her speech to UN representatives about being an ambassador for their UNAIDS campaign.
Luckily, husband David and Vic's sister and parents were on hand to represent the mother-of-four at the shop opening. And, having seen the pictures, we have to say that David made a fine replacement.
As a UN Goodwill Ambassador, Victoria will continue the work she has already begun helping mothers and children affected by HIV and AIDS. Speaking in New York, VB said: ‘I will do whatever I can to raise awareness. I feel very passionate about this. I recently visited South Africa and was so touched by the women I met and felt inspired. I came home and I knew I had to do something. Babies should not be born with HIV and we can stop that. We are close to stopping that, we cannot give up, we have to keep going.'
Successful fashion designer AND committed campaigner? Victoria is putting us to shame at the moment…
