Lena Dunham's Girls became a word of mouth sensation before it even hit UK screens, as legions of women fell for its off-beat humour and ability to portray those awkward romantic moments.
Rather than perfectly polished aspirational characters, the show is all about bringing real-life hang-ups to light.
Lena explains that while there are "hot girls" in Girls, her character Hannah had to be "real".
She reveals: "[Weight] is something that even the most well-adjusted girls spend time thinking about, I resent how much time it takes up in all our minds, so my goal with this is show was to create a character who has a lot of problems and none because she's fat."
