The beautiful people turned out in their droves to sup champers and schmooze at the final of the Gold Cup at Cowdray Park on Sunday.
As the polo ponies enjoyed a warm-up gallop in the blustery weather, the Veuve Clicquot was flowing inside the VIP tent, where Naomie Harris looked boho-fabulous in an electric blue Issa maxi dress. The Pirates of the Caribbean star talked animatedly about her upcoming role in a BBC adaptation of the Andrea Levy bestseller, Small Island, due to air in September. Also present were Poppy Delevigne, who had a Marilyn moment in the windy conditions in her floaty floral Ralph Lauren dress, Donna Air looking serene in white Louis Vuitton, and VV Brown in an eye-popping pink vintage suit.
Lunch was a lavish affair, the highlight being a dessert of golden polo balls, which broke open like snitches. After lunch the guests moved out to the lawn to watch the match beside Tom Dixon’s giant spherical sculptures made from Veuve Clicquot boxes, specially designed for the occasion and a handy little shelter from the mixed weather.
