We were busy swigging Chambord and Champagne and enjoying a spot of well-dressed people-watching before the Sass & Bide show when we spotted VIP guest Twiggy. She sat next to Lisa Snowdon in the front row, just a few seats along from model-turned-designer Ben Grimes, next to Jodie Harsh.
The show itself was a display of baroque Edwardian rock’n’roll costumes, featuring heavily embellished shoulder pieces attached to belts by harnesses (trust us on this one). Black and white vertically striped trousers competed with monochrome tight cut-out dresses and ultra-long leather gloves.
Accessories came in the form of metallic headpieces and OMG-want-them-now giant metal clutches shaped like saber-tooth-tiger fangs. Embellishment (pearls, beads, metallics) featured heavily in the circus-inspired collection by Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton.
