Golden Globe nominee Anna Paquin, who plays telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse, returns to TV tonight alongside Vampire Bill (Anna's real-life fiance Stephen Moyer), Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and so-bad-he's-good vampire Eric Northman (the yummy Alexander Skarsgård, below left).
True Blood lost out to Mad Men for best drama at the Golden Globes, but it has our hearts (bitten right out of our bodies). Plus, you can now drink ACTUAL Tru Blood. Okay, so it’s not actually synthetic blood developed by Japanese scientists, but a tasty blood-orange drink that looks just like the real, er, synthetic thing. £19.99 from the HBO UK Store.
True Blood originator HBO suggests whisking it up into cocktails: The Fangbanger (Tru Blood and vodka)
Death on the Beach (Tru Blood, peach Schnapps, pineapple juice), and Vodka Plasmapolitan (Tru Blood, citron, Cointreau, fresh lime juice).
For something with a bit more bite, try mixing Southern Comfort with blood-orange-flavoured Tru Blood, over ice, for a "Southern Blood" cocktail. We’ll be drinking ours while wearing our Team Eric tees, £14.99 at the HBO Store, and watching our favourite vampire (sorry, Robert Pattinson) in all his topless glory. As ever, drink both alcohol and your lover's blood responsibly.
The new series of True Blood starts on FX tonight at 10pm: find out Lafayette's fate, whose body was in Andy's car, and just how far will Jason go with the Fellowship of the Sun?
