Tom Cruise’s son lands first starring role

Tom Cruise’s son, Connor, to star in Hollywood remake of Red Dawn

Tom Cruise’s son, Connor, is set to take his next steps in following his dad to superstardom – by landing a starring role in the remake of Red Dawn.

According to the Daily Mail, the 14-year-old’s been lined up to play the youngest member of a gang in the brutal guerilla warfare flick – once named the most violent film by the Guinness Book of Records.

The original movie starred Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen, and features the fictional onset of World War 3 after America is invaded by the Soviet Union.

The latest version follows a gang of youngsters as they take on Russian and Chinese groups, and Connor’s co-stars include Home and Away star Chris Hemsworth and Transformers star Isabel Lucas.

Filming is due to start next month in Detroit and the movie is expected to hit cinemas in September 2010.

It’s not the first time Connor has hit the big-screen – he made his movie debut last year in Will Smith’s Seven Pounds.

Looks like he’s Cruising to global domination, too!
