This week has seen some of Hollywood's biggest names flock to Venice for one of the most anticipated film events in the calendar, and it kicked off with a bang, as big screen starlets Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba hit the red carpet for the premieres of their new thrillers.
It was Darron Aronofsky's dark ballet-themed Black Swan that opened the festivities, and Natalie Portman was ready to steal the show dressed in a crimson cut-away chiffon gown by Rodarte.
It was the turn of Jessica Alba later in the evening, as she swept down the red carpet in a daring Valentino mini with a long draped train at the premiere of her new action thriller Machete.
It seems the updo was the vogue of the night, as both ladies had their hair worked into neatly placed 'dos, with Jessica working a neat topknot, while Natalie sported an intricately plaited style.
There's still plenty more to come from the fest, with 79 premieres in total.
Head of the festival's jury, acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino, said the festival lineup was 'one of the most wildest, cool, eclectic lineups' he'd ever seen, and we're sure sure they'll be plenty more fabulous frocks to be seen too!
