Blake Lively made her first red carpet appearance in months when she stepped out at her The Age of Adaline premiere in New York City and boy did she look mega.
Rocking a show-stopping red feather dress from Monique Lhuillier — which was uncanny to the frock made famous by the salsa dancer emoji — Blake's red carpet debut since giving birth to she and her husband Ryan Reynold's first child (a daughter named James) certainly didn't fail to make an impact. However, it was the outfit that she sported to the screening's after-party that *really* caught our attention...
Again turning to Monique Lhuillier for inspo, Blake looked beyond incredible in a black tuxedo coat dress which she layered over a sheer, star-motif bodystocking. Yep, we don't need to tell you which aspect of her ensemble turned heads at the glittering bash!
Of course, bodystockings are commonly associated with all things raunchy but thanks to her longline coat, fierce hair style and minimal styling throughout the rest of her look, Blake managed to make the stripper-staple look 100% chicer. We'd even go as far as saying we want to try this super-tricky look out for ourselves; bravo Blake!
However, she's not the only A-lister who's been showing the sexy garment some love over the past few weeks — 17-year-old Kylie Jenner raised eyebrows this weekend at Coachella festival in Palm Springs where she rocked a laddered and crochet number over a skimpy bikini to take in the music and the rays alongside her older sister Kendall and her half-sister Khloe Kardashian.
There's no doubting the fact that the youngest Jenner gal as a body we'd kill for but considering her age and the way in which she styled her bodystocking out, many HAVE deeming her get-up as OTT. Proof that if you're going to get in on the stocking action, you really need to think out exactly what you'll pair it with.
Kylie's risque attire came just weeks after her older half-sis Kim Kardashian sported a nude bodystocking from her hubby Kanye West's fashion collection with Adidas, which he showcased in New York during Fashion Week. Pairing hers with a pair of pointed ankle boots, chunky socks, a bralet and an oversized camouflage print parka, Kim expertly managed to make her form-fitting one-piece look way more wearable. Even though, we think we'll follow Blake's cue all the same...
Who'd have thought that something as simple as a pair of tights could help inspire so many looks? You know, they come in handier than you probably give them credit for! Here are 4 other nifty hacks you can do with your body suit [or tights] when you're done with them. Blake — we're totally happy for you to share this on Preserve. Just FYI:
1. The Old Hoover Trick
Lost an earring, tiny trinket or something equally small in your house? Pop an old pair of tights over the nozzle and you've got a DIY suction finder.
2. Bespoke Scented Drawer Fillers
We tapped Joey and Monica from Friends for this one... Stuff the ends of your tights with potpourri, cut and tie the ends and there you have it — an instant scented drawer filler. Just be sure to wash your tights first, obvs.
3. Make A Handy Crop Top/Shrug
Got a fancy wedding or something at calls for a cover-up? Cut the feet and crotch off, pull it on and voila... [wear with discretion]
4. The Ultimate Octopus Fancy Dress
Take four pairs of tights (preferably coloured), stuff them with soft polyester toy filling and sew the waists together and you're one step closer to having a badass octopus costume. The rest? We can't help you with...
If these handy ideas don't get your creative juices flowing, NOTHING WILL.
Anyway, back to Blake. Check out the trailer for her new film The Age of Adaline below. It still looks stellar, even if the lack of bodystockings was a complete costume design oversight...
