You may recognise her from Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events or action fantasy Sucker Punch, for which she starred alongside Vanessa Hudgens, but with the release of Sleeping Beauty, we think you’ll be seeing a lot more of stunning Australian actress Emily Browning.
The leading lady in the film that’s anything but a fairy tale, Emily plays a young university student who becomes a Sleeping Beauty, drugged into submission to become the object of paid affection.

A challenging role, on taking the part Emily admitted: “Sleeping Beauty is such a huge step away from anything I have ever done before and that was exciting to me. I like the fact that it’s risky and dangerous.”
Before adding: “Reading the first scene gave me a panic attack and I thought if something can make me feel that much, I have to be part of it.”
The film’s director, Julia Leigh, was equally complimentary of Emily, commenting: “She made the material her own in the best possible way. I love the latent tip-of-the-iceberg feeling you get when watching Emily on screen.”
Going on to say: “I realise how lucky I was to work with Emily on my first outing as a director.”
