It’s the cinematic event we’ve all been waiting for and last night an Alexander McQueen-clad SJP was joined by her Sex and the City co-stars to greet a throng of glamorous fans at the film's London premiere.
‘This city is very special to all of us,’ Sarah Jessica said, talking to Gok Wan in interview on the red carpet. Speaking about her outfit she said: ‘I’m wearing Alexander McQueen – he’s the only designer I could wear tonight.’ The actress was friends with the deceased designer and added, ‘I miss him very much’.
Topping SJP’s spectacular black gown was a dramatic Phillip Treacy hat, even bigger and taller than the green head piece she wore at the original Sex and the City Movie premiere back in 2008.
Cynthia Nixon opted for a slinky green Narciso Rodriguez gown while Kim Cattrall donned 90s Thierry Mugler and Kristin Davies worked a glittering vintage Norman Norell from Decades gown.
Is it a challenge getting ready for such a big night on the red carpet? Kristin quipped: ‘Oh no, we have so many people to help us get ready, it’s actually very easy!’
The script for the second film from Michael Patrick King, now legendary producer of both the television series and the films, involves just as much glitz, glamour, high fashion as well as drama as we’ve come to expect from the fab four.
We see them get into scrapes in Abu Dhabi, with Samantha’s japes ruffling more than a few Middle Eastern feathers, while SJP’s chance meeting with former flame Aidan finds her risking her marriage with Big.
Sex and the City 2 is released today, so don your highest heels and hot foot it to a cinema near you to check out this fashion fest!
