Sienna Miller is to play screen siren Tippi Hedren in new drama The Girl which follows Alfred Hitchcock's obsession with the star…
In an intriguing new drama to be screened in the new year on BBC 2, Sienna Miller will portray blonde screen icon Tippi Hedren and her life as Alfred Hitchcock's muse.
Known for his love of blondes, Hitchcock developed a deep infatuation for his leading lady, casting her in his classic movies The Birds and Marnie.
Writer of the drama Gwyneth Hughes said: ‘Everyone knows Hitchcock was keen on his blondes. Unfortunately for Tippi, he developed a twisted and obsessive love for her that left her feeling isolated and terrified. He made repeated sexual advances towards her and tried to take over her life."
The production was inspired by biographer Donald Spoto's book Spellbound By Beauty which delves into the uneasy relationship between the mentor and muse.
Mum of film star Melanie Griffith, Tippi eventually walked out on her seven-year contract with Hitchcock, and it is the events leading up to this huge decision which is the focus of this unmissable drama.
