Inside Sex And The City Writer Candace Bushnell's New York Apartment

Candace Bushnell's New York home has just gone on the market for $2.6 million. But how does it measure up against her famous heroine Carrie Bradshaw's?

It's common knowledge that Sex And The City writer Candace Bushnell based her famous Manhattan heroine Carrie Bradshaw on herself.

So what would Carrie make of Candace's New York apartment?

Bushnell's stylish abode has just gone on sale for a cool $2.65 million. The apartment is in Greenwich Village, the same part of New York as Carrie Bradshaw's flat, though inside it's a little more swish than her fictional character's shabby-chic brownstone with its underused kitchen and famous walk-in closet.

While the fictional Carrie's one-bedroom apartment has a living room with bright blue walls and floral sofas, the living room of Bushnell's apartment - which also has one bedroom - is decked out in greys, greens and creams.

Candace's bedroom is a little more neutral than Carrie's too, with a dark wood bed and luxuriant pile of cushions. We do like Carrie's picture collage though.

The entrance hall of Candace's flat is grander than Carrie's, with a smarter side table and lamp situation. Though kudos to Carrie for the organised filing system of magazines #priorities.

Despite one being considerably slicker than the other, there is one part of the house the two have in common - a kitchen that doesn't look like it's much use beyond coffee and slices of toast.

Though undoubtedly the best life-imitating-art aspect of Bushnell's apartment is the other famous Sex And The City character living in the same building.

Yes ladies and gents, that's none other than Chris Noth - AKA Mr Big - himself!

The Manhattan apartment is more of a city bolthole for Candace, who also owns a more spacious home in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. Following the success of the Sex And The City books, TV series and movies, Candace Bushnell's net worth is said to be around $40 million.

If you're interested in snapping up her New York flat, it's on the market for $2.68 million. Rather pricey for a one-bed.
