Sex And The City 2 DVD launches with a star-studded party!

A little piece of New York came to London last night with the Sex and the City 2 DVD launch party. A number of celebs were in tow including Jameela Jamil and Willie Garson (aka Stanford Blatch).

Cocktails, crystals and Stanford Blatch, you just don’t get more New York than that. At the Sex and the City 2 DVD launch party hosted by Swarovski last night, InStyle chatted to Willie Garson who told us all about working with SJP and fashion guru Patricia Field.

‘Stanford was Pat’s creation… he was the only character she wasn’t given notes for so she really went to town and did her thing! I think for the entire third series I pretty much only wore Dior. Pat is absolutely fantastic, we had a lot of fun in the wardrobe.’

We asked Willie (who was modestly sporting a grey Banana Republic suit for the occasion) who his favourite designer was off-set...

‘Well we’re so spoiled, we get sent so much stuff to choose from but I prefer a more classic style than Stanford so I would have to say probably Paul Smith or Hugo Boss…’

InStyle just had to know which of the girls was his favourite character: ‘Oh Carrie of course. It has to be Carrie!.. Sarah Jessica and I have been friends for over twenty-five years, I adore working with her!’

And of course for all of us SATC obsessed girls we probed for any info on a third film, but Willie wasn’t giving anything away and simply smiled and replied ‘Who knows…I hope so.’ We do too!

The glamorous soiree was, like the film, a cocktail of New York style and Middle Eastern charm, all shaken up with some London scenesters’ and hip music. DJ for the night Jameela Jamil wore a scarlet Topshop number while fellow DJ Sunday Girl aka Jade Williams sported an ASOS dress glammed up with a fantastically exotic necklace given to her by Swarovski - a piece from their special Sex and the City 2 inspired line, and worn by Sarah-Jessica in the film.

The West London store looked like cross between a New York cocktail bar and Aladdin’s cave, where Swarovski’s special collection sat like enchanting Arabian treasure behind glass cabinets for partygoers to admire and add to their Christmas wishlists. Guests sipped on Skky vodka cocktails and scrumptious Prosecco and at the end of the night took away gem encrusted DVDs and bottles of SJP’s fabulous fragrance NYC.

Those SATC people know how to throw a party!
