20-year-old Rupert Grint has shed his Hogwarts robes and wand, and loveable-fool credentials, to star in the gritty new coming-of-age and twisted love story, Cherrybomb. He stars along-side up-and-coming star of Channel 4’s Misfits, Robert Sheehan, and newcomer Kimberley Nixon, who plays the subject of the boys affections.
The indie flick, set in Belfast, is set to be a huge hit for the summer. Having premiered at the Berlin film festival last year, it will be released in cinemas on 23 April.
The film sees the teens indulge in an anarchy-filled weekend, as the boys undertake a competition for the heart of new-girl-in-town, Michelle. Their otherwise quiet summer is turned into a fest of debauchery and dangerous antics, as it hurtles towards a startling end, as a result of the newcomer’s arrival.
We have to say we are more than a little curious to see Rupert in the guise of a good-boy-turned-bad and shirtless, too, of course!
