Princess Victoria married boyfriend of 8 years, Daniel Westling, in Stockholm yesterday, before a crowd of famous royals including Crown Princess Letizia of Spain and Queen Rania of Jordan.
The lavish bash is being dubbed the biggest royal wedding since that of Diana and Charles, and with everything from a horse-drawn carriage to the bride’s 16.5-foot train wowing guests, it was most certainly a royal affair.
Despite wedding a civilian (Daniel is the queen-to-be’s former personal trainer) rather than a fellow royal, the stunning princess was keen to honour tradition by marrying at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, as her parents did on the same day in 1976.
She also wore the same cameo-embellished tiara and glittering earrings her mother wore at her wedding over thirty years ago. Her dress however, was an unrivalled one-off designed by Pär Engsheden, which required two dutiful staff to follow in her wake to hold it up.
Congratulations to the happy couple. We’re just left wondering where Princess Victoria plans to keep that train now it’s all over!
