Another day, another R-Patz update. Yesterday we told you about the Twilight actor’s part as a Parisian lover in Bel Ami and today we bring you the news that the British actor is joining the circus for his new role.
Pattinson, who seems to be moving out of his tween roles into more serious cinematic endeavours will hit the big time with this 1920s drama, Water for Elephants, in which he stars opposite Reese Witherspoon. The actor plays Jacob Janowski, a vet student who joins the circus after his parents’ tragic death and cares for the animals.
Inglorious Basterds baddie Christopher Waltz brilliantly takes on the role of August, the volatile head trainer who goes head-to-head with Pattinson’s character, and who is married to Reese Witherspoon's acrobatic performer. It goes without saying that a secret, torturous affair ensues between the leading actors.
This is the second of what we hope are many more mature roles for Pattinson, although we must admit we can’t wait for him to reprise his role as romantic vampire Edward Cullen in the teen hit Twilight, either. What can we say, we want our cake and to eat it too!
