After a recent spate of more sedate outfits, Lady Gaga was back to her quirky self as she posed for fans in Manhattan’s famed Meatpacking district.
Wearing a red, 80s-inspired dress with statement sleeves, cats-eye glasses and 12-inch skyscraper stilt heels, her ladyship was certainly out to leave a lasting impression on fans.
Earlier, on the week of the tenth anniversary of September 11, Gaga had spoken of her memories of the tragedy and of her love affair with her birthplace. She recently revealed: “I watched the towers fall from the roof of my school, holding all my best friends. I don't know – just, my affinity and my love and the relationship I have with New York City – it's like the husband I never married".
Gagamania really is hitting the streets of New York this week, as her genius stylist (and creative director of Thierry Mugler) Nicola Formichetti has opened up a pop-up store for two weeks in the Big Apple, which will be home to many replicas of Gaga’s past looks, including the blood-drenched costume she wore during her Paparazzi performance at the VMAs in 2009 and, we’re guessing, some pretty gigantic heels!
And with Fashion Week wrapping up across the pond, we have good news: Gaga will be back in the UK later this year, performing in this year’s Children in Need gig at Manchester’s MEN Arena on 17 November alongside Elbow, Coldplay and Snow Patrol.
