Yesterday Christopher Bailey, the creative director for Burberry took quintessential Britishness to LA to host a tea party (in Tom Cruise's former Beverly Hills home, no less) to celebrate the new Burberry Beauty collection.
Held in a British-inspired, private garden in Beverly Hills, guests including Kate Bosworth and Lake Bell and Wimbledon champ Serena Williams, all dressed in Burberry, supped tea and admired the new beauty collection.
The surprise guest was Glee’s Jayma Mays, dressed in Burberry, naturally. With her Bambi-like features, auburn hair and petite frame we have a feeling she’s one to watch in the fashion stakes. Will she be sat front row at the Burberrry show in September? We reckon so!
The British company’s first foray into cosmetics launched online at the beginning of the month.
‘It’s very natural, very wearable,’ Burberry’s Christopher Bailey explained. ‘The colours are all based on the trenchcoat.’ And in fact, one of the foundations is called simply Trench.
‘We’ve chosen three British beauties we’ve worked with before and who are part of the Burberry family,’ Bailey said. ‘Rosie has this effortless sexiness to her; Nina has an edge and attitude; and Lily is a classic British beauty. When you put them all together, you have a pure Burberry expression.’
