Carey Mulligan, who shot to fame with her Bafta-winning turn in An Education, has since proved her red-carpet mettle with a pixie crop hairdo and a recent change to blonde.
The new do proved perfect for 24-year-old Carey to pose as Twiggy for a shoot in Wonderland magazine, wearing a fab white Prada shirt.
The British starlet admits she’s taking a break from acting: since filming An Education, she’s made Never Let Me Go with Keira Knightley; Brothers with Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal; and Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps with Michael Douglas and boyfriend Shia LaBeouf.
‘I'd wanted to work with Shia since A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints,' says Carey. 'He's amazing. He was so incredible in that film, and we ended up working together well.'
Carey told Wonderland about her break: 'My agent came up to me and was asking for the only half hour I had in the next two weeks. And I was home, so I wanted to see my friends and I was like, "Don't take the five seconds left that I have. I just don't want to be in a movie! I don't want to have the responsibility of being a big actress, I don't want to be on a poster!"'
Tough luck, Carey: news is she's going to star as Eliza Doolittle in the upcoming remake of My Fair Lady. We see a few more movie posters in her future…
