And this isn't just a one-off weekend project either – Scarlett has enlisted the help of one of the Haim sisters, Este, as well as songwriter Julia Haltigan, singer Kendra Morris and singer-songwriter Holly Miranda to create new band, The Singles.
Citing artists such as Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go's as inspiration, Scarlett said of her group's sound: 'I wanted to be like those bands: ultra pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke.'
The band have already released their first single, Candy, and we reckon it could our new favourite sugary pop hit.
'The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls,' said Johansson. Well, we think you've nailed it.
But this isn't Scarlett's first foray into music – the mother-of-one already has two solo efforts under her belt; her album of Tom Waits songs Anywhere I Lay My Head and 2009's Break Up. Not to mention the numerous times the 30-year-old has lent her vocals to film soundtracks.
So will The Singles be the next big thing? Listen to their new song below, and let us know...
