SJP Admits She Was Far Too Relaxed About Her Sex And The City Audition

SJP Admits She Was Far Too Relaxed About Her Sex And The City Audition

Apparently Carrie Bradshaw is an easy character to forget...

Sarah Jessica Parker was already a successful film star when she was offered the role of Carrie Bradshaw in the iconic television series Sex and the City, so she certainly didn’t need to take the part. However, after six seasons and two hit SATC films under her jewel-encrusted belt, it’s impossible to imagine anyone other than SJP teetering around in Carrie B’s Manolo Blahniks.

And after it was revealed that SJP didn't even WANT to take on the role in the first place (read on and BE AMAZED), the actress has now said that she didn't even remember shooting her first scenes as the fashionable journalist. Yep, that takes playing it cool to the next level...

Speaking as part of AOL's 'Makers' series, the star explains: 'I shot it [the pilot episode] and honest to God truth, I completely forgot about it. I know no one will believe it. I forgot about it. I'm walking down the street one day and I run into this woman and she's a big fancy executive at a big movie studio. And she says to me, "Oh My God, I just saw your pilot, Sex and the City." And I said to her, "What? What are you talking about?"' Uh, that's not exactly the best way to impress top-level staff now, is it SJP?!

We thank our lucky stars that she eventually got on board...

As we said though, Sarah was almost the Carrie Bradshaw that never was. It was reported a couple of weeks back that, after the show was picked up by HBO, SJP had serious reservations about taking on the role, and actually went to great lengths to try and get out of it. Gasp. Shock. Unadulterated horror.

According to the 50-year-old’s former co-star and long time pal Seth Rudetsky, Sarah was reluctant to sign up for the job as ‘she didn’t really want to do a series’. However, Seth went on to reveal that after she read the script, she fell in love with the concept and, as the producer’s first choice, ‘she filmed it [the pilot] and then forgot about it [as her latest interview confirms]. Months later she found out the show was picked up and she completely wanted to get out of it.’

‘She really didn't want to be tied down to one job because she loved going from gig to gig and being, what she called, a “journeyman”. She tried various ways to get out of it including telling HBO that she would film three projects for free if they'd release her from her contract! Basically, they convinced her to honour her deal, and she now has no regrets.’ Thank god for that, huh?!

During their latest conversation, Seth hinted that it seemed SJP may have also let slip what has been long suspected, but never confirmed: a sequel film MAY be on the cards. Be still our beating hearts…

He added: ‘She loved played Carrie Bradshaw, and she told us that there may be a project coming up involving all the ladies!’

Don’t toy with us, Rudetsky – this is the news we’ve been DREAMING of since 2010, after all...
