6 Reasons Why Ronda Rousey Is Everything Our Inner Badass Wants To Be

Why the MMA fighter, Pantene ambassador and all round epic girl crush of our dreams is EVERYTHING…

If you haven’t heard of MMA fighter, Olympian, actress and all round badass mega babe Ronda Rousey, well, where have you been?

Adding brand ambassador for Pantene’s ‘Don’t Hate Me Because I”m Strong. Strong Is Beautiful’ campaign to her ridiculously impressive CV, Rousey just proved there’s nothing she can’t do. It’s not surprising why we’re a little bit obsessed. Read: understatement of the year.

A strong (literally), inspirational woman that has great hair too? It’s official, we love her.

If you’re still not down with, let’s be honest, the coolest woman to front a beauty campaign for a long time, here’s everything you need to know…

1. She’s proof that having muscles doesn’t make you masculine.

“I’ve been called ‘Miss Man’ and ‘savage’ because of my physique, but to me, strength isn’t only about having muscles. It’s about having heart and finding inner confidence…If you think fierce can’t be feminine, Im about to show you what only a strong woman can do”.  Can we get an Amen?

Well, when you’re the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in Judo and a crazy successful MMA fighter (that’s mixed martial arts to you and me) worrying about fitting a trad image of femininity suddenly seems a little redundant, non?

2. Just because you’re an athlete doesn’t mean you can’t be a love interest.

We’ve seen a million and one films that make the hot girl the love interest, the older woman the wife with the washing and the sporty girl the background friend, or, let’s be honest, the lesbian, way too many times.

Not on Ronda’s time. Starring as herself in 2015’s Entourage movie, Rousey played Turtle’s (yes, that’s an actual character) new love interest who fights him in the ring before taking him on a date. Don’t you just love a bit of gender role reversal?

3. She’s fighting (get it?) that pay gap.

As the no.2 female bantamweight fighter in the world, and ESPN’s Best Female Athlete Ever, it makes sense that Rousey is the highest paid fighter in UFC - that includes male AND female fighters. Smash that glass ceiling girl!

4. She’s got serious #familygoals.

As an Olympic medal winning fighter you’d be forgiven for thinking Rousey trained with some hardcore coach that was probably a dude. Nope. Until the age of 13 her own mum helped train her in Judo. That is, until Rousey accidentally broke her mum’s wrist. Whoops… Either way, Mrs Rousey’s commitment to her daughter’s fighting dreams is making us feel totes emosh.

5. She’s super hot.

Yes, she’s a crazy successful athlete in her own right, but we kinda love that Ronda is all about the glamour as well. Whether it’s great hair (Gisele eat your heart out, we’re all about the Rousey beach wave) or working body paint swimsuits on the cover of ESPN’s Body issue, gurl isn’t afraid to bring a bit of sexy back. #bodyconfidence for days.

6. She’s a bit of a geek.

Yup, up there with professional wrestling and Dragonball Z, Pokemon is Rousey’s third love. What’s her favourite Pokemon we hear you ask? Mew, of course. Duh. She’s also into World Of Warcraft and plays mainly as a night elf hunter. A woman after our own geeky hearts.

Serious girl crush going on over here....
