Rihanna made history last week when it was announced that she was set to become Dior's first ever black campaign star which will see the 27-year-old songstress and fashion icon appear in the fourth instalment of the label's Secret Garden series which will be shot by Steven Klein in France. The results of which will be unveiled in both print and video this spring...
Obviously, RiRi is over the moon with regards to her new [and very high-profile] role but it's clear that what she's most passionate about is the message it will send throughout the industry.
Speaking about the campaign for the first time, Rihanna said: 'It feels fantastic. It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any colour.' And we couldn't agree more.
She went on to say: 'I think, to be acknowledged by Dior is just, it means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, and elegant, and timeless.'
The news of Rihanna's appointment broke after the A-lister was spotted at a weary 3am filming in the lavish surroundings of the Palace of Versailles in Paris, where all of Dior's previous Secret Garden campaigns have been made.
It goes without saying that Ri is no stranger to a photo shoot, so we're sure it almost comes as second nature for her. However, one thing that she admits she found a 'little bit intimidating was her role in the new animated flick, HOME.
Speaking at the film's press day (in the video below), Rihanna revealed that 'it was nerve-racking and a little bit intimidating but it was a very valuable experience.'
Oh, Rihanna; is there anything you can't do? What a lady...
