As bikini bodies go, Ursula Andress in Dr No is an iconic image – and she’s deservedly been crowned the number one bikini goddess in a new survey.
As the bikini celebrates its 60th birthday since its first appearance in the US, a poll of over 1,000 British women showed that Ursula was our top two-piece queen, while Kelly Brook and her hourglass figure came in at second place.
The ultimate sexbomb Brigitte Bardot nabbed third place for her picture-perfect body in The Bikini Girl, while Helen Mirren in her sizzling red holiday bikini snapped up fourth place.
Other celebs to make the list included Halle Berry in her orange eye-popper in The World Is Not Enough, Myleene Klass in that white bikini on I’m A Celebrity… Elle Macpherson, Megan Fox, Gisele Bundchen and Jessica Alba.
The bikini was invented in France in 1946, but really took off in America from 1949 when Hollywood starlets made it their poolside purchase of choice.
The survey, which was carried out by Gillette Venus Embrace, says that curvy figures still reign supreme.
The company’s sylist, Holly Chaves, says: ‘The perfect bikini look is certainly timeless - Ursula Andress set the bar and four decades later, it is still the benchmark women look to.
‘The full list suggests curves and an hourglass figure are not just appreciated by men but that it is women, too, who feel this is the kind of look they should aim for and not just try to be thin.’
