Prince George first birthday portrait

Prince George's official first birthday portrait

Prince George turns one tomorrow July 22nd, and in celebration of the royal's first birthday, Kensington Palace has released a new photo of the future king.

Taken at the Sensational Butterflies exhibition at the Natural History Museum earlier this month by photographer John Stillwell, the photo shows the birthday boy with his arms outstretched (no doubt chasing the wildlife), taking some of his first steps without a helping hand from his mum Kate Middleton or dad, Prince William.

Wearing a pair of blue striped dungarees from Petit Bateau – which have of course already sold out – a navy polo shirt and matching buckled shoes, we think the young Prince already looks a lot like his dad. Just check out that strawberry blonde hair.

'Prince George was very lively and very sure of himself and confident - a very determined young boy', John Stillwell said of his subject.

Meanwhile, preparations are no doubt underway for George's first ever birthday party, which is expected to be held at the Duke and Duchess's Kensington Palace apartment tomorrow.
