Gwyneth Paltrow with her phone

Gwynnie is a tech wizard

Gwyneth Paltrow, an app developer? It might seem out of character for the all-natural Gwynnie, but it’s happening.

Joining and entrepreneur turned internet personality Gary Vaynerchuk, Gwyneth has signed on to Apple’s Planet of the Apps (witty); a new reality TV show following a group of app developers who are hoping to make it big in tech. Gwyneth, Gary and will mentor and advise the developers, with Will and Gwyn also taking an executive producer role. and Vaynerchuk are natural choices for a tech reality series, but Gwyneth Paltrow, the organic advocate who ‘would rather smoke crack than eat canned cheese’? Well, despite her pursuit of a natural life, Gwyneth is the mastermind behind her hugely successful Goop site (love it, hate it, you’re talking about it). Credit where credit’s due!

Speaking about her latest role, Gwynnie said ‘Developing and launching a business based on your own original idea can be exhilarating, but intimidating. This is a great opportunity to be part of a series that lets us use our experiences to help app developers break through and create viable businesses that will impact peoples’ lives’.

As for’s statement? It was surprisingly, well, understandable: ‘As tech drives modern pop culture now more than ever, we are giving a platform for the next generation of culture makers to shine. We are searching for entrepreneurs with the vision to shape the future, solve real problems and inspire change within our daily lives’.

There’s no news yet on who the entrepreneurs will be (there’s actually still time to get involved - you can apply for Planet of the Apps here!), what channel the series will air on or when it will start, but check back here for all the updates when we get them.
