Pippa Middleton Opens Up For The First Time About *That* Bridesmaid Dress

Kate Middleton's younger sister admits her Alexander McQueen dress may have 'fitted a little too well'

Pippa Middleton has spoken for the first time about the bridesmaid dress she wore to her sister's, Kate Middleton's, wedding to Prince William in 2011.

As the world watched the Duchess of Cambridge and the future king of England tie the knot, it seemed it was also keeping one eye firmly on Pippa Middleton, too. Something the 30-year-old party planner and columnist is not unaware of.

Adressing the audience in her first after-dinner speech, Pippa joked about the dress that had everyone talking about more than just the wedding.

'As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and – you may say – its backside.'

The 30-year-old said at the time of the Royal wedding, she was just 'glad it fitted', but added 'in retrospect it fitted a little too well.'

Perhaps Pippa was worried she had broken the golden rule of weddings – don't upstage the bride.

The party planner and author was speaking at the Women in Advertising and Communications dinner at the Savoy, where she also admitted that the negative criticism she received for her recent book Celebrate had been 'difficult'.

But Pippa clearly made a great impression with guests at the dinner, with one telling the Mirror: 'It was the first time she’s made a speech of this kind but you wouldn’t have known it, she was so relaxed. It was unbelievable how open she was – I don’t think anyone was expecting that.'
