As the shock news of Peaches Geldof's death rippled across the world yesterday evening, tributes began to pour in for the 25-year-old writer, journalist and mother.
Peaches' father, Bob Geldof, said in a statement confirming his daughter's death that he and his family 'are beyond pain.'
'[Peaches] was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us', he continued.
'Writing "was" destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is.
Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken.'
Lily Allen was one of the first of Peaches' friends to lead the tributes on Twitter. The 28-year-old singer, and mother, wrote: 'My thoughts are with the Geldof's at this awful time. I hope they get to grieve in peace. Peaches, rest in peace gorgeous girl.'
Ellie Goulding wrote: Even if you think you've got it all figured out, some things still can't be explained or understood. Two beautiful children. RIP Peaches
Daisy Lowe, who is close friends with Peaches sister Pixie, simply posted a picture of a broken heart.
Kelly Osbourne wrote: Words seem inadequate 2 express the sadness I feel about @peaches_g death We are here 2 support U @pixiegeldof1 stay strong my little Pepsi!
Boy George also took to Twitter to express his condolences: 'Poor sweet Peaches Geldof. We spoke only a month ago and she looked like an angel. This is truly sad. Poor Bob! R.I.P'
Police were called to Peaches Geldof's home in Wrotham, Kent at 1.35pm yesterday afternoon, following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman. In a statement Kent police said: 'A woman aged 25 was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.'
The death is being treated as non-suspicious, but 'sudden' and 'unexplained'.
Peaches leaves behind her husband, Thomas Cohen, and their two sons, Astala and Phaedra.
'My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons,' said Cohen in a statement.
'I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever.'
