Nicole Richie has successfully made the transition from an actress and reality star to a prolific fashion designer, but that leap wouldn’t have been so easy if she didn’t do one thing first: find confidence in her own abilities. 'We need to be the first ones to believe in ourselves,' she told attendees at this weekend’s Create and Cultivate conference for female entrepreneurs.
Richie was joined by successful stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Nikki Reed to give advice on being a self-starter in the digital age, and the 35-year-old founder of House of Harlow 1960 had some sage advice to share. 'We each have something to bring to the table. The star was quick to point out that she doesn’t fit into any mold. 'It’s so easy to fall into a box that somebody else had put you in,' she said. 'If you want to save yourself some energy, just be yourself. There’s nothing else to be.'
After her turn on stage, Richie had fun in the Amazon Fashion lounge, showing off her stunning monochromatic maroon look topped with a blush pink duster.
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
