Oscar-nominated, American actor Paul Giamatti is set to cause a stir in the Grantham household as he arrives to play the free-spirited uncle to the Crawley sisters in series four of Downton Abbey.
Making his first appearance in the Christmas Day special, Giamatti is set to play Harold, Cora’s brother and Martha’s (played by the fiery Shirley Maclaine) son.
How will this play out at the Crawley residence – we anticipate that Robert Crawley, 5th Earl of Grantham and gatekeeper of all things traditional will not be best pleased.
Gareth Neame, Carnival Films’ managing director, has confirmed the new addition stating: “We're excited that Paul Giamatti will be joining us on Downton to play Cora's brother Harold, the rather free-spirited uncle to Mary and Edith.”
The filming of the highly anticipated season four of the hit ITV drama is already well under way as cast members have been spotted filming in the village of Brompton, Oxfordshire.
