Mick Jagger has released a statement, following the death of his partner of 13 years, the fashion designer, L'Wren Scott. Ms Scott was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Monday morning, after an apparent suicide.

Jagger wrote on his website that he is 'still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.'

He continued: 'We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her.'

Mick Jagger was in Australia, touring with his band The Rolling Stones, when news of L'Wren Scott's death reached him. The band have since cancelled their Australian and New Zealand tour.
