First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to Downing Street proved to be a very fashionable affair, with Samantha Cameron not to be outdone in the style stakes...
First Lady Michelle Obama’s sense of style has long been feted by the fashion world. A champion of up and coming designers as well as uber luxe labels, we’ve been looking forward to seeing what the US President’s wife would pack in her suitcase for the three-day state visit to London, and we haven’t been disappointed.
Pictured outside Downing Street, Michelle greeted David and Samantha Cameron in a vivid magenta midi dress by LFW favourite Roksanda Ilincic teamed with a cobalt coat by New York designer Narciso Rodriguez and ladylike courts.
Meanwhile Samantha Cameron held the fashion fort for Britain in a stunning floral silk dress by Peter Pilotto, a label she no doubts knows well as London Fashion Week adviser.
Both First Ladies of fashion went all out for the Queen’s State Banquet that night with Michelle choosing an uber elegant white gown by Tom Ford and Samantha opting for London-based designer Emilia Wickstead for the glamorous event.
After an evening of glitz and glamour, President Barack and Michelle Obama returned to Downing Street for a BBQ in the No. 10 garden the following day. Both Michelle and Samantha Cameron were bright and breezy in the sunshine where their style - rather than the salads - was again the centerpiece.
Samantha stayed true to her British allegiance in a stunning pale blue printed dress by Jonathan Saunders while Michelle went for a glitzier look in a crystal-belted black dress by American designer Tracy Reese.
And it was even more glitz galore for First Lady Michelle later that evening. Co-hosting a dinner in honour of the Queen at the home of the US Ambassador, Michelle wowed in a black off the shoulder gown by Ralph Lauren, decorating her décolletage with oodles of diamonds.
What a whirlwind of wardrobe wows!
