7 Reasons Why Luke Evans Is Your New Piece Of Celebrity Crumpet

Luke Evans is about to take off. Here's why we heart him...

Luke Evans has been simmering on our celebrity crush hob for some time now and well, it's time for you to get in the know.

You can thank us later...

1. He's a proud Welshman

37-year-old Luke grew up in Aberbargoed in the Rhymney Valley, and despite landing several big budget film roles (Clash of the Titans, The Three Musketeers...yes, he's looking familiar now right?), he's only acted using his native Welsh accent once. Yep, in his role as Bard The Bowman in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, he was asked to keep that lilt. And we loved it.

2. He's mates with Sir Ian McKellen

His first scene in The Hobbit was with Sir Ian...no pressure then.

'It’s just a weird thing, isn’t it, when you’ve seen it (the Rings trilogy) and all of a sudden, you’re actually on set and Gandalf is looking at you with the white eyes and Ian is sort of brilliant.'

3. He's starring in a little film called The Girl on the Train?

You may of heard of it? The trailer has just dropped, and we're mega excited...

4. He likes playing Greek Gods

Apollo in Clash of the Titans? Zeus in Immortals? Guy is fetch in a pair of sandals.

5. He's also pretty handsome as a vampire

Luke played Dracula in 2014's Dracula Untold. Yep, he wore fangs on The Graham Norton Show. Props.

6. He's out and he's proud

Luke has made no secret of the fact he's an openly gay man, and considering the taboo surrounding actors being out and proud in Hollywood, we think that's all kinds of awesome. His sexuality certainly hasn't affected his ability to nail somewhat straight roles, and he is notoriously private about his personal life. In a 2002 interview Luke revealed:

'Everybody knew me as a gay man, and in my life in London I never tried to hide it.'

We know we can't marry you Luke, but we love you all the same.

7. THAT moment on The Jonathan Ross Show...

In case you didn't know, Luke is playing the dastardly Gaston in the forthcoming Beauty and the Beast epic (starring Emma Watson), and well...look what happened on The Jonathan Ross Show. Lols. Actual lols.

Keep doing what you're doing Luke Evans. Team Instyle think you're fantastic.
