The posters for hotly-anticipated 2013 release The Great Gatsby have been unveiled showing off Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan's '20s makeovers…

Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby promises to be a flapper-fabulous affair, and thanks to the release of new posters, we can now see the casts' costumes up close.

Carey Mulligan who plays Daisy Buchanen is pictured in a delicate lace prom-style dress with sheer neckline, presumably one of the stunning pieces lent from Miuccia Prada's archive, as it was announced in August that she was collaborating on the costumes. To complete her retro look, Carey's hair is coiffed into a side-swept, cheek-grazing bob, while her lips are painted scarlet and her cheek is flecked with a faux beauty spot.

A quote from the famous novel sets the scene for her character, saying: '…that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.'

Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars a titular character Jay Gatsby, looks seriously sharp in a penguin suit. A handkerchief can be seen peeping out of his pocket and his hair is slicked to the side. His poster comes with the tagline: 'Can't repeat the past? …of course you can.'

Looks like we're in for plenty of style and scandal.

The Great Gatsby is out 17 May 2013.
