Lena Dunham's Reason For Working Out Isn't Just About Her Body

It's not the pressures of Hollywood that has Lena hitting the gym, our girl has a healthy mind-body approach to exercise...

For Lena Dunham, working out is about a whole lot more than slimming down.

The ‘Girls’ star took to Instagram to share how her new focus on fitness has had a positive effect on her life saying "It has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible."

Lena posted her workout selfie with a motivational message of how hitting the gym has helped her, and she encouraged others to get on board too.

She wrote: "To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it's mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I'm glad I did."



The actress is the latest to work with celebrity trainer, Tracy Anderson, who has helped Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna stay fit and fabulous.

Lena has also added acro yoga and pilates to her fitness programme, and revealed that it was her parents who kick-started her newfound love of fitness.

She said: "Both my parents, who are 65, they're both really exercise fiends. They look really hot, and I was just starting to feel like I was really dragging behind, and I was like, 'You're more than twice my age and I look like a bag of trash next to you."




We're glad Lena is breaking a sweat for all the right reasons, and we’ve just found our fitness motto of the week: “It ain’t about the a**, it’s about the brain.” Thanks, Lena!
