Lea Michele Tweets A Tribute To Cory Monteith Two Years After His Death

Two years after his untimely death, Lea Michele has paid homage to the late Glee star - and her former boyfriend - Cory Monteith

Lea Michele has tweeted a tribute to Glee star Cory Monteith, exactly two years after her former boyfriend was tragically found dead in Vancouver following an overdose.

This is not the first time Lea has shared tributes to Cory on social media. On what would have been the Glee actor and musician's 33rd birthday earlier this year - on 11th May - Lea tweeted a picture of Cory at a drum kit with the caption "I know you’re serenading everyone right now. We love you Cory! Happy Birthday."

Cory Monteith passed away two years ago today in Canada after a drug and alcohol overdose. The news shook up the closely-knit Glee cast but hit Lea Michele particularly hard - she and Cory had fallen in love on the set of Glee and dated for two years, mirroring the on-screen relatinship between their Glee characters Rachel and Finn, or 'Finchel' as they were affectionately known.

And as Lea said in an interview last year, the pair were in it for the long term. "We were done. We were it" she said, "when you’re at that place in your life with someone, you talk about everything, but today I feel like I was given the best part of Cory and I’m thankful for that."

When the final Glee show wrapped in February this year, Lea instagramed an emotional picture of herself walking off set with the football jersey belonging to Fin (Cory's character), captioning the post "one last thing."

Today - on the 2nd anniversary of Cory's death - Michele tweeted a simple tribute to her former boyfriend. "Today we remember the laughter and joy you brought into our lives every day. We think of you always and love you so", including a picture of him silhouetted against a sunset:

Glee fans have responded by flooding Twitter with tributes to Cory under the hashtag #2YearsWithoutCory.
