Kendall Jenner On Why Being A Kardashian REALLY Isn't All It's Cracked Up To Be

Kendall Jenner has spoken out on her struggles to break into the modelling industry and it was bleak: 'You have no idea how many adults outright laughed at me'

Kendall Jenner may make modelling look like a doddle but getting into the industry was anything but easy as her latest comments prove.

There have long been whispers that the 19-year-old catwalk 'it' girl has been the victim of backstage bullying by her fellow models, especially after these nasty Instagram comments went viral. However, even if there's the teeniest smidgen of truth to them, it looks like it was Kendall's earliest prejudices from top model agents and casting directors that have left her more scarred.

Of course, after walking for the likes of Chanel and Fendi and after bagging MAJOR campaigns with iconic labels like Calvin Klein, Givenchy and Estée Lauder, Kendall's since developed a thicker skin that's definitely a direct result of her phenomenal success. But when she was just starting out, it was a totally different story...

Speaking to the edgy V Magazine, Kendall revealed: 'You have no idea how many doors closed on me and how many adults were either initially reluctant to take a chance working with me or who outright laughed at me behind my back.'

'It was kind of hard because all I was doing was going on go-sees, trying my best to break into this business as a teenager.'

And we thought our teenage years were rough...

It may have been a struggle but it's one that has massively paid off and although Kendall's talent and prowess is undoubtedly what got her there, she's still very humble and super-grateful to those who really put their necks on the line for her from the off.

Continuing her honest interview, Kendall gushed: 'I am so grateful to Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, and Karl Lagerfeld who took a chance on me that first season and gave me an opportunity. My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it.'

However, this isn't the first time Kendall has revealed that her famous family has caused her modelling career some difficulty. In fact, last year she made the bold decision to drop her last name from her modelling card — basically her business card in the fashion industry — in an attempt to distance herself from that connection

What's more, she admittedly banned her starry sister Kim Kardashian from sitting on the FROW during her first-ever Fashion Month season so she could do her job without the hype surrounding Kimmy at the event. A wish the 34-year-old was more than happy to oblige in.

So yep — while many will argue that it's Kendall's fame that's paved her way to the top, she continues to defiantly disagree. Either way Kendall. we reckon you've definitely had the last laugh...
