Katie Holmes doesn't want to be defined by her divorce
When Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise announced their divorce in 2012, after six years of marriage, it made headlines around the world.
While both Tom and Katie have remained largely silent about their split, it's clear that they've both moved on with their lives. And Katie's busier than ever: as well as reprising her role as Jackie Kennedy in a new series of The Kennedys, the 35-year-old is also about to have a turn behind the camera, directing her debut feature film, All We Had.
So it's unsurprising that the star would rather be remembered for her career successes, than her failed marriage. Speaking to People magazine, the actress made it clear that she wants to be known as something other than Tom Cruise's ex wife.
'I don't want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am', Katie said of her divorce.
'I don't want that to be what I'm known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now.'
Katie also opened up about life as a mum to her daughter Suri, whose love of dressing up (and the odd tantrum), has been well documented by the media.
'My patience has grown, but between 4 and 6pm, I mean wow. Between tickle fights and glitter art, I try to throw some manners along the way.'
Yup, sounds like Katie's got her hands full…
