Kate Middleton has a wardrobe that we can only dream of calling our own, but what sort of money does it take to keep a high-profile royal clad in the appropriate attire for an entire year? The figures may just surprise you.

Yesterday, Clarence House released its annual financial report that details the expenditure of the royal family, in particular Prince Charles.

It's worth noting that Kate, her husband Prince William and his brother Prince Harry receive funds from their father — who pays for his official life by drawing an income from the Duchy of Cornwall, a massive estate given to the heir to the throne to fund his (and his children's) official and private livelihoods. And the income made in the last year from the estate was a cool £19.75 MILLION. Not a bad pay packet, huh?

Looking at the figures, it was also listed just how much Charles had forked out on Kate, William and Harry in the same time frame and, if we're totally honest, we thought it'd be way more...

Of course, it's by no means a small sum of money but we were really surprised to learn that the staff, travel, and official wardrobes for William, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Harry ran him a total of £2.9 million. And with all the McQueen and Temperley Kate's been wearing lately, we definitely thought it would be more...

While the exact break-down of the finances has not been disclosed, the main chunk of the cash actually went on the royal's exclusive travel and NOT Kate's bustling wardrobe. Just as well — we can't imagine the boys would be too pleased about that.

The overall sum that Charles ending up spending on the trio rose by just £38,000 YOY due mainly to the enhanced focus on their respective royal duties and public appearances which take them across the globe.
